  • I worked in the Main OR department(s) in the hospital. I’ve been working in the main OR at Saint Alphonsus in Boise for 3 weeks now and am dissatisfied with how I thought this assignment would be. I got one day of orientation and had to fight for that. When I spoke to management on the phone they had eluded to using travelers to fill in for people on maternity leave or FMLA etc. When I arrived I had found out there was a mass exodus due to poor management. My first week 5 people had quit. I felt like what have I gotten myself into?! They also managed to piss off a lot of anesthesia providers and were short there too. The docs were upset with lack of OR time due to low staffing and were threatening to leave the hospital. Management and charge nurses did not care about me or my experience and put me wherever they wanted. Assignments don’t make any sense and I am just a chess piece on their board. I have been put in a few situations I felt could have been disastrous. The docs run the facility and get away with being extremely needy and rude (Not all but definitely a lot). The OR desperately needs and off shift assigned specifically for breaks and to finish cases that run late. I take call and pick up shifts often working 50-60 hours weeks. I was asked to come in an extra day and the day before I gave one break during me entire 10hour shift. (Not a great use of my time or their staff). The nurses and techs have been great to work with and have been very helpful to me, but it is clear that moral is low and many of them are frustrated. Until this facility gets new management and learns how to run their department more efficiently, I would not recommend it nor would I come back. 04/30/2021

Fully furnished apartment with garage. Housing would have been rated a 5, except the price was to high for monthly rent. If the price were more reasonable I would not have a problem rated it a 5/5.
