  • I worked in the ICU department(s) in the hospital. Travelers in this hospital are under the Parallon travel agency. They subcontract it to the secondary agency. It turns out that they cannot coordinate their steps. I was told to show up on a date but hospital was not expecting me until the next week. Given 3 days of unit orientation but the first two days was wasted because I don't have any access to the computer system and omnicell. They used EPIC. They gave us a total of 20 hrs EPIC training and then send to the real world. I was having a hard time with the system but tried to do what I need to do. Some interesting fact I've known, they gave 2 blood products at the same time. Also handily squeeze the blood product so that you can finished it in less than 10 minutes. No regards to possible reaction and/or complications. Got an admission that showed up 10-15 mins before shift ends and when I question it, got labeled refusing to take admission. So, hospital called my agency and agency called me same day to tell me that they terminated my contract after just being off orientation for 2 days. Lessons learned, don't be vocal, don't make suggestion/criticism about their way of nursing, and just pretend that you are in agreement with them. New kid on the block learning things is not permissible in their neck of the woods. Good things about Hot Springs- lots of mountain biking, hiking trails, all outdoor activities and friendly people outside their facility with some exception I guess. 07/28/2016
  • Housing was approximately 3 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was unknown. Housing was located in city of Hot Springs. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. Housing is really cheap and try finding a place on your own. You'll meet special people that will probably become your friend for life.
