  • I worked in the hospital department(s) in the hospital. average shifts 7-7, mid-shifts 12-12, 3-3, work 7 straight [thu-wed] lot of OT shifts but rarely available, when shifts are open, if taken by a traveler a FT employee can take them from you, even when they work 30, 40, 50 days/shifts in a row, and yes, that many and more! A modified version of Cerner Powerchart is used here [RAVEN] that is difficult to navigate because no training is provided on the system before use, [get a log-on, go to work]. Testing is required and redundant with repetition of the testing agencies require. Staff here are either current or former travelers, admin here is terrible with flying in/out for weeks at a time and other staff taking over duties they normally do not do. What they don't tell you so ask - safety, housing assignment with roommates, w/d, walking/cab, vouchers, water rationing, mail po box, deliveries from home, food cost [~125% more than what is paid in lower states - watch you tube], water filtration [read up on current water assessments and filters needed], amount and type [layers] of clothing needed to survive weather [esp when walking], need for vitamins due to lack of fresh produce/cost of food. This is a unique experience but one each traveler needs to be better prepared for and not just show up with a few items, expect an initial layout of $500-$1000 before or as soon as you arrive to survive the environment. enjoy the people, learn the culture, be prepared and enjoy your stay! 01/05/2017
  • Housing was approximately 0.75 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was provided. Housing was located in city of Bethel. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3. you will either be 3/4 mile from hospital in 2-bedroom unit and expected to walk in all weather or pay for a cab [$5 each way] or be placed farther in 3-bedroom and given cab vouchers for each work day and some store visits. you will have pay per load $2 wash and minimum $2 dry each load if in 2-bed and w/d in unit for 3-bed at no cost. ice everywhere/anytime so ice cleats needed when walking to/from work, 1 set of bedding and 1 towel set provided with 1 roll toilet paper [send more!] kitchen supplies are varied, fridge, microwave and sometimes coffee pot available, water filter absolutely needed for delivered water [pay extra if go over your ration]. bring with you or send ahead any more personal items or things you must have. find other travelers to share with [nurses, RT, social workers, construction - anyone could be your room mate] or travelers leaving for a bargain on items you would like. come and have fun!
  • I worked in the OR department(s) in the hospital. One of the worst travel experiences I've ever had. Hospital housing is in front of the Sobriety House, so you are subjected to nightly visits from the police 09/29/2016
  • Housing was approximately 2 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Hospital housing. Housing was located in city of Bethel. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 1. Housing itself is okay, but it's location is horrible.
