  • I worked in the Medical department(s) in the hospital. The best experience while working at this hospital was the initial orientationt to the HCA system. They fed us breakfast and lunch then travel nurses got to leave earlier than anyone else. The information they presented was also interesting and the presenters were interactive. Once I got to the hospital (DRMC) the parking was great. We could park right out front just a few feet away. The EMR program they use is Meditech....yuck!! Need I say more? I was barely given 12 hours of floor orientation and was only floated to the surgical floor a few times during the 5 weeks that I was at this facility. I did appreciate that they allowed Nurses to work as techs instead of working without techs. The floor managers were friendly and accommodating with my schedule requests which were not too many. The charge nurses are either overwhelmed with tasks that they are not able to be a resource to the nurses on the floor or else they are just lazy. I did not have time to get an overall picture of their role since I was busy trying to take care of my work load. While I was there I was mistreated by one of their female doctors who belittled and embarrassed me in front of colleagues and the patient. I reported her behavior to the managers who handled this situation in an excellent and professional manner. I worked with some good doctors but overall most of the doctors still treat the nurses as if they are their personal secretaries and are at their beckon call. I encountered some doctors who were rude to patients and were demeaning and disrespectful to nurses. Overall, this experience was better than I expected it to be since this is an HCA facility and it was small. 01/21/2017
  • Housing was approximately 2 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was N/A. Housing was located in city of Denton. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3.
