  • I worked in the ER department(s) in the hospital. The staffing ratio was not safe. If had a tele pt you had to transport the pt up stairs and that left nobody watching your other pts. You would get 3 to 4 new pts at a time. 99%of the time did not get supper break. Had to stand and do charting they did not have stations for nurses to sit down at. On average put in 18,000 steps in a 12 hour shift. Did not have NAs to help and was told would always have or very few tume would be without. Did not allow travelers to use their certifications. Did not get next grid to wo work until the week before current one ended. Most staff have less then 1 yr nursing experience. New grads only get 6 weeks of orientation. Nurse to pt ratio 1:7 sometime as high as 1:9. These are not the 4 and 5's these are 2's. When ask for a tele bed told they will work on it but yet when one of your rooms open up that is a tele room they place someone else in that room. Who cares if the pt who you are trying to get a tele room for is in afib with rvr. No history of afib. They hospital does not care about the ER nurses. We they get dragged thru the mud and a lot has to do with management. They will not let travelers go to their monthly meeting so have no clue what is being changed. Was exposed to TB and did not get an email about it. The charge nurse and first nurse was notified to tell me. Why have a hospital email if they are not going to send you information that way. 04/17/2017
