  • I worked in the ICU department(s) in the hospital. Absolutely horrible. The nitpickiness about charting was unreal. They want everything charged and after you’re done. A nurse will go through your charting and find no less than 5-10 mistakes and have you correct them “why didn’t you chart the size of the Foley?” “Because it’s always a 16F. It has been for the 11 days they’ve had it” “it needs to be charted.” On and on. They would go. Everything has to be called to the doctor. If there is a PA, you have to call both the PA and the MD just to be sure. Half the staff is completely incompetent and should not be in an ICU let alone taking care of fresh cardiac surgery patients. Everything is a 100% policy based. EVERYTHING. “Oh you labeled your bags with the time but where is the by date?” “The label is color coded and says to be changed on Sunday.” “Well policy says it needs the date”. An order from when they were intubated a week ago? You guessed call the MD at 2am to make sure they know they need to take out Q4 oral care out of the chart. The level of critical thinking is a joke. An absolute joke. Policy > critical thinking every single time. I would recommend this hospital if you want to be driven crazy. In my time alone 25% of the travelers either quit or were fired because they couldn’t handle it. 09/30/2019

  • I worked in the ER department(s) in the hospital. Dameron is a weird place, lots of turnover right now. The four I was there with was awesome, but most of the core staff are leaving. There's some really scary staffing scenarios and a couple of really unsettling providers but mostly it was the people that kept me coming back. Stockton is a rough area. Management is also in flux so it is pretty much always chaos. The flow in the ER isn't great but the work is not unbearable. All and all it was not a bad assignment because of the friendliness of what was left of their core team. It's just a really terrible area, case and point, a patient stole a nurses car from the parking lot of the hospital. 12/02/2016
  • Housing was approximately 9 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Waterfield Square. Housing was located in city of Stockton. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. I really liked the apartment.
  • I worked in the EMERGENCY department(s) in the hospital. This hospital is poorly run and poorly staffed, the equipment is old and poorly maintained. Most of the time the equipment does not work. This hospital cannot keep staff, so travel nursing staffs approximately 90% of the ER. The doctors are very condescending, and treat you like you don't know what you are doing. This is probably because most of the staff they do have here have less than 5 years experience. They try to intimidate you into going out of ratio. The ER nurse manager is also a traveler, which one would think would help, but she is also part of the problem. She will use her position to further her intimidation over you,by changing your schedule and making sure you and the staff do not have a happy time here. There are plenty of positions open yet she will put you and staff on days requested off, just out of spite. Some of the staff here will help when you are busy, which is almost every day, but most will just sit and watch you work. The ER has almost no security, people come and go as they please. I have seen knives on people. I have brought this up, but I might as well talk to the wall. They act as if nothing is wrong with this. The hospital is not in a good area, so the concerns are great about this. I have also brought up my concerns to my travel company, but again no help there. If I were you I would stay as far from this hospital as possible. We have an RV so our housing is approx 15 miles from the hospital. 11/18/2016
