  • I worked in the CICU department(s) in the hospital. Orientation was very disorganized. After completing 2 days of computer orientation, we were promised working access codes so that we would be prepared to give patient care during our 1st day of clinical orientation. Did not have working access codes until the latter part of our 2nd & last day of clinical orientation. The travelers continued to be locked out of EPIC with each contract renewal because our manager could never remember to renew our EPIC access without being notified by the I.T. department even though our manager knew the end date of each traveler's contract. Then, during my 3rd contract renewal, Nursing Administration made the unilateral decision to make all the ICU travelers the float pool so that they would have complete control over the traveler's schedule & floating to the tele units (with up to a 6-patient assignment), became more frequent as we no longer had a "home base." The ICU travelers were never asked for their opinion & during the initial interview process, were given the impression that floating to tele units would happen on an occasional basis, not 2-3 times/week. Would not recommend this hospital if ICU is your specialty because more often than not, you will be utilized as a tele nurse (where the patient assignment can be up to 6 patients (not a tele nurse: patient ratio but more like a med-surg nurse: patient ratio). 04/12/2019
  • Housing was approximately 1 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was 1776 Eastchester Rd.. Housing was located in city of Bronx. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4.
