  • I worked in the operating room department(s) in the hospital. The manager is racist and sexist. If you are a white female don't bother. Also bc they are a government run hospital they get 19 pd holidays a year. All the staff is off but will make the travelers work anyway. Manager referred to staff as ours and you guys. Also takes it upon herself to diagnose the staff as bipolar and even tells their recruiters that. Stay far away until this manager is gone. 05/01/2014
  • Housing was approximately 5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was sapphire. Housing was located in city of stt. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 2. They put you up on the east end which is where all the tourist stuff is and 2x anywhere else on island. Sapphire is overpriced.
  • I worked in the Medicine Unit department(s) in the hospital. My husband and I spent 5 mo. in St. Thomas. We had a very good time and found folks to be friendly. Some of the "Rastas and Westies" have an attitude about foreigners because they would like things back they way they were many years ago, before tourists. Most folks were polite and friendly, respectful. One does NOT LIVE in downtown Charlotte Amalie, as after dark on many of the side streets there are homeless folks, other some sketchy people. We made the mistake of living on Garden St, 2 blocks from the water. We moved after 9 days because: sketchy folks on street all hours of night, drug dealing!! and an arrest downstairs from our apt!!! We moved to Sapphire Village and met some great folks, other travelers. If you have a car, you can go to the major resturants and pubs w/o too many problems. My husband & I used the Safari buses during the daylight hours and taxi's after dark, even from Downtown Red Hook. We hope to go back someday. The ER can be a tough place to work, many GSW cases at times. 05/01/2013
  • Housing was approximately 7 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Sapphire Village condos. Housing was located in city of Red Hook. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. A. start the process early to get your licence. They are on "Island time". Contact a rental agency like Paradise Properties. They helped us immensely.
  • I worked in the emergency room department(s) in the hospital. VERY UNSAFE AND HOSTILE CITY TO TRY TO LIVE IN, VERY DANGEROUS TO BE OUTSIDE ANYWHERE AFTER 5 PM. THE PEOPLE OF THIS ISLAND HATE OUTSIDERS AND MAKE YOU VERY AWARE OF THAT. EVEN THE BOARD OF NURSING WORKERS ARE RUDE AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO GET YOUR LICSCENSE. DISASTER OF AN ASSIGNMENT. 03/05/2013
  • Housing was approximately 4 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was FOUND MY OWN. Housing was located in city of ST THOMAS. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 1. HAD TO LIVE IN A RAT HOLE DUE TO HIGH RENT,WATER AND ELECTRICITY. SAPPHIRE BEACH RESORT WAS SUGGESTED BUT TOO HORRIBLE AND EXPENSIVE.
