  • I worked in the Ortho med surg department(s) in the hospital. Wonderful staff! never felt more accepted out the jump as a traveler. They did not allow travelers to have fresh surgical hip/keen replacements so we usually had all the medical patients. Parking is across the street and behind the hospital. Cafeteria food was pretty disappointing, not many healthy options but they did have a nice grill. Scheduling was amazing! It was self scheduling and travelers almost always got what they requested and then staff filled in the missing parts, it seemed backwards but they want their travelers to extend which most people did! Ratio was 1:5 but there were some times I had 6 patients. 05/11/2018
  • Housing was approximately 5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Airbnb. Housing was located in city of Reno. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. Housing is hard to find. I had a husky and they were on the restricted list in all the apartments. Ended up getting Airbnb.
  • I worked in the CCU department(s) in the hospital. This hospital isn't as technologically advanced as the bigger hospitals in the area and there isn't really room to improve on your skills per say BUT the staff is very friendly, especially the MOA's, they don't hesitate to help you with patients and they are very knowledgeable. I got to make my own schedule which was great. The nurse managers are very nice, they make rounds and sometimes will bring you soup and chat with you. Most of the nurses are really nice(there's the usual gossipers but otherwise they are very helpful). Wasn't too thrilled dealing with the ER nurses though; there were a lot of new nurses in the ER and they definitely need more training. The pay is decent and the workload isn't as acute as many other hospitals. Great place to start if you are a travel nurse. 11/21/2014
