  • I worked in the Float Pool department(s) in the hospital. Even though my spouse and I jumped at the first good offer we had, we lucked out with this being our first assignment. We did our 13 week contract back in the summer of 2017 in the float pool. We were floated between PCU, Med surg, Oncology, and Ortho/neuro/surgical (ONS). We absolutely loved it, except for PCU who did a 4:1 ratio where you could take insulin gtts and levophed up to 5 mcgs (that had always been ICU status in my previous experience!). Although I thought ONS would be my least favorite department... it actually turned out to be my favorite! We loved the staff, charge nurses, and the CNAs on that floor. Super travel friendly! They were utilizing updated Meditech at the time, but were switching to EPIC two weeks after our contract end date. We asked to return for a shorter 7 week contract to get orientated with EPIC and they were more than happy to oblige and allowed us to take the full orientation with permanent employees. Plus, that had been the only charting system conversion I’ve ever experienced that launched without problems! I would definitely recommend as a first assignment for the beginner traveler and/or the experienced. I’ve even considered going back! 04/20/2020

  • I worked in the MSTel department(s) in the hospital. I enjoyed my experience at Rapid City Regional. I stayed a year! My supervisors, physicians and fellow nurses were great. Often we had an admit nurse, a discharge nurse, wound care team and others to help make my nursing load manageable. 08/26/2017

  • I worked in the OR department(s) in the hospital. If you want OT pay....this is the place to be. I'm used to taking a good amount of call as a traveler...actually this was the lowest amount of overall call that I've taken since being a nurse....but the call back was insane!!! It is not uncommon to work a 24 shift!!!That's just not in my definition of safe pt. care. 08/20/2014
