  • I worked in the Acute Care department(s) in the hospital. I worked here for 7 months and have seen many changes that were not for the better. While thevhospital will score high, it's actually become a more dangerous place to work than when I irst started if that could even be possible. They expect med-surg nurses with no ob experience to work post-partum and vice versa. These are higher than normal risk patients because most natives get little to no pre-natal care. There are no surgeons and therefore no c-sections or anesthesia. The nearest level anything other than rural hospital is 3 hours away via medi-vac. No peds experience plus no requirement of PALS isn't taken into account with babies weeks to months old in respiratory distress that we are responsible for. Many doctors there are incompetent and don't listen to nurses. They are now taking cardiac drips and leaving them in the hands of nurses with little to no cardiac or telemetry training. They are illegally passing off in-service education through short emails and power points that must be acknowledged and signed therefore making you agree that you have received training. They have cut staff down to one ob nurse and one acute care nurse for the floor. No aides. ER is staffed with only one nurse at night with the expectation that the acute care nurse go downstairs and help them. Just awful. Serious flapping in the wind of nursing licenses. RN's beware!!! 05/29/2015
  • Housing was approximately 1 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Nome apartment. Housing was located in city of Nome. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3. Housing is sub-par and shared. At least it's paid for.
  • I worked in the Acute care department(s) in the hospital. It is a very remote area and food and supplies are very expensive. 01/31/2015
  • The name of the housing complex was Hospital housing. Housing was located in city of Nome. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. Nome doesn't have much to offer, you have to take a cab every where and there's only two grocery stores in town. The restaurants are horrible with the exception of one restaurant Pingo. Ok to work here for short assignments.
  • I worked in the Acute Care department(s) in the hospital. This was first travel assignment and I loved every moment it is very traveler friendly. There are more travelers than permanent staff, even the manager is a traveler. The hospital is simply beautiful all the equipment is new. There is a free gym within the hospital.Travelers are provided with hospital housing with a 5-10 min drive from the hospital. This was such a good travel experience I extended my contract. I simply love working here. 10/03/2014
  • Housing was approximately 2 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was 4 plex. Housing was located in city of Nome. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. There isn't alot of apts in Nome so travelers do not get private housing.
