Travel Bonding
Travel nurses often find that through their travel experiences they meet and quickly bond with other travel nurses in a unique relationship. One minute this person you are meeting is a stranger, and almost instantly you feel a connection, and a bond is formed.
Travel nurses are all in the same boat; you are away from family and friends, you are in a new place where you don’t know anyone, and you are doing your best to quickly adapt to your new surroundings so that you can be efficient at work. When you share this experience with another person a quick and deep bond often forms.
Travel nurses also find that they share similar interests with each other, as the job calls for someone who is adventurous and outgoing personality that enjoys exploring new things. Unlike others who are committed to daily work routines and responsibilities, travel nurses tend to have more free time to explore their new surroundings. And travel nurses find that while they are on the road they are more open to forming friendships because they need support from others.
Travelers often become like an extended family. One travel nurse told of her first travel experience, and how she felt alone and scared in an apartment in Arizona. But soon after she met another travel nurse in the building she found herself sharing stories and future dreams with this new found friend. The two shared many adventures and assignments together, and remain friends after many years.
This type of bonding is typical for travel nurses. Many travel nurses are confident that when they arrive at a new assignment they won’t be alone for long. And if they find themselves in an area where there is no other travel nurses, they have learned to seek out the more adventurous employees at the hospital who are willing to show them around town and form a new friendship.
