Travel Nursing with your Car
If you travel alone, your car can become your best friend. You spend a great deal of time
with it on the road and getting to and from work. Like any good friend, you want one
that is reliable and dependable. In return, you treat your friend with appreciation and
respect right.
Sally, a new traveling nurse, is grateful for her new friend. As she excitedly packed her
bags for her first assignment in Main, Sally kept thinking about how grateful she was that
she just bought a new car. Her new car was reliable and fuel efficient. At the time of her
purchase, she didn’t know she was going to be traveling, at least consciously. She
wonders if she did know subconsciously though.
Not everyone can be like Sally and afford a new car. However, even if you don’t have a
new car, you can take it to the mechanic before you hit the road. I know you already
know this, but sometimes we all need a little reminder. Have your mechanic do a
complete check up, oil change and possibly a tune up (depending on how many miles you
have on your car). The time and money that you pay upfront will make a difference.
You may avoid unfortunate mishaps and increase your comfort level while driving long
distances through unknown territory. Also, rotating your tires a few times a year really
will make your tires last longer. I have tested it out myself.
While you cannot control all circumstances, you can set yourself up for the best
experience possible. Someone once told me: to have good friends, you must be a good
friend. Taking your car for maintenance is a great way to be a good friend to your car
and make your trip much better together.
