  • I worked in the CCU department(s) in the hospital. The CCU dept has many noc shift travelers. No openings for days. Nurse pt ratio was 1:2 most of time. If pt very sick on many gtts/pressors etc would be a 1:1. Lots of psych admits to the unit for behavioral purposes. Many 1:1 suicide watches. Self scheduling. Manager gives unit a chance to even things out before final posting. Almost every shift someone is to float. Sometimes retrievable sometimes not. Overtime shifts available if you want it. Staff nurses were great with me. I became friends with many of them. Aberdeen itself is not a very good town ( lots of homeless/drug activity), but surrounding towns were great. 30 minutes from beaches. 07/23/2017
  • Housing was approximately 15 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Linkshire Trailer and RV court. Housing was located in city of Central Park. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. We stay in our 5th wheel and had a time finding it. But it is a nice park and would stay there again. I know other travelers that don't RV stay in surrounding towns mostly. Which leads to a 30-45 min drive.
  • I worked in the Med/Surg department(s) in the hospital. The hospital was archaic in both technology and patient care practice. Because they were required to adopt an EMR, they purchased an outdated doss based version of meditech to remain compliant. They don't have such modern amenities as blunt fill devices. I had a patient with a foley 3 days post ex-lap. He was ambulatory and apparently this was standard practice. I was chastised for asking about using the NIH scale on a stroke patient because "we are not a big city stroke center". I was reported as being uncooperative and difficult to work with because I asked questions. They resented travelers with new ideas. Most of their staff trained and worked only at that facility 08/12/2015
  • Housing was approximately 2 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Ecolodge. Housing was located in city of Aberdeen. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 1. Cheap motel room on a busy street with suspect cleanliess, though the staff was friendly. Microwave and tiny fridge.
  • I worked in the Family Birth Ctr department(s) in the hospital. The only problem here is the staff seems very dissatisfied with all travelers. I was even told that they have only ever liked one traveler and a few were "Mediocre". I can inference that I was one of the mediocre ones. 05/17/2015
  • Housing was approximately 5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Heather Meadows. Housing was located in city of Aberdeen. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 1. Wish I could give it less. My first week there was a drive by shooting. There hasn't been one since but what a great start.
