  • Housing was approximately 1 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Pacific Crest Apt. Housing was located in city of Encinitas. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. 10/10/2017
  • Found my own housing. For the same price of Extended stay next to Interstate I found an amazing cliff side apartment in Encinitas.. I did furnish myself though and explained to landlord my job situation and he offered me 3 month lease for about 2800 month. I worked in the Er department(s) in the hospital. 38 Bed Er and 2 story hospital had around 150. Very busy, sees around 130-150 a day in ER. Close to beach. Non trauma hospital, takes Strokes and STEMIs. No Peds unit but they get Peds walk ins which are all transferred to local PEDs hospital. Er was always full by 1100. 4 to 1 ratios and unless you worked the front critical bed assignment you always have 4 and your room gets filled immediately. Near nursing homes so many frail sick elderly patients, Occasional minor beach injuries, occasional ETOH, and Averaged 1-2 psychs per day. Currently still paper charting which will drive you nuts constantly have to go to Doctors desk to check charts for new orders. You do all your own labs unless it is hard stick than you can call lab for stick but expect 30 minute delay. ICU was next door to Er so was simple to transfer over. Other than ICU and PCU all other patients even tele patients could be transported to floor with hospital transporters. Staff and Doctors treated me great. I felt welcomed at all times. You get two 15 minute breaks and 30 minute lunch covered by break nurses. While you work your ass off here, the location is absolutely perfect. It is blocks from the Ocean and Encinitas is a beautiful small beach town.
  • I worked in the ICU for 6 months. The staff treat travelers great, however morale is low at the hospital (two strikes occurred during my assignment). The have one MD (all the other MD's sign off to him for the most part)for the ICU who is on call 24/7. This MD is the worst I have dealt with and the situation is complicated by him being on call 24/7 for basically all the patients. The unit allows you to self schedule and staffing allows you to pickup shifts (at time and a half) whenever you wish. The patients are rarely critically ill and typically the work is easy and not stressful.
  • I worked in the ICU department(s) in the hospital. Housing was approximately 14 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Regents Court. Housing was located in city of La Jolla. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5.
