  • I worked in the CDU, Med surg 3, Oncology, ICU, Rehab, TELE department(s) in the hospital. I started as Nightshift in the CDU(basically ED holdover) but that shut down so I became float pool. So I have been on every unit except ortho. The max ratio I had was typically 4-6:1 , in rehab you can get 7 because they are very easy, No IV’s and all meds end at 10pm. In ICU they have 2. On all units I felt supported by most staff. They have techs that due all the vitals and BG’S. The techs are very good they notify for critical vitals or sugars. They also do most I&O’s and some rounding on patients. The hospital has a phlebotomy team that draws every single lab. The hospital uses EPIC documentation. My schedule was better than my staff schedule, 3 days on 4-6 days off. The doctors were not very approachable or kind for paging overnight. That was really the only negative and I had to put a doctor in their place and reported them using their MIDAS system for reporting unprofessional behavior, near misses etc... The staff are very traveler friendly. Parking is free in the garage and literally a 3 minute walk. They had appropriate PPE for all Covid patients and rule out Covid patients. Their cafeteria closes early so we brought food on nightshift. They use omnicell for med dispensing. The patients here are some of the kindest patients I’ve ever met. I’m from NY so I may just be used to being verbally abused and manipulated, who knows? I would definitely recommend traveling to this hospital. I’m staying at the Hyatt house which is like full suites with a kitchen for $50/ night about 8 minutes away. If I had to rate my experience I’d give it a 9/10. There is so much good food here and shopping and people are very friendly. Highly recommend! 09/17/2020
  • Housing was approximately 5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Hyatt House. Housing was located in city of Las colinas. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. I found my own housing at the Hyatt house. Was noisy at times but safe and really nice little suites that feel like an apartment. Everything I needed was included. Silverware and cutlery, full range stove and fridge. Laundry is steps away and a pool that I never went in because it always had kids in it and it is Covid times so no thanks. They have a gym and basketball court with delicious complimentary breakfast every morning. Rate was $50/night if staying for a month or two. I negotiated that rate. Only 8 minutes from hospital on same road.
