  • I worked in the OR department(s) in the hospital. This surgery center is on the same property as reston hospital but it functions as its own entity. It is an HCA facility, so even before I started, I had to do the online modules and meditech training...which was in my opinion a waste of time because the surgery center still worked with paper charting. But I guess the positive in all that i got paid to do all the modules/training. The coworkers were all very nice and helpful. Management was nice and easy to talk to/get along with. The schedule varied...some days were very light and some were heavy. During light days, nurses and techs would help unload shipments and stock shelves. We also had to pick next day cases. They did not have a separate person to do that. SPD had its weaknesses and overall there was alot of drama. No call, no weekends, no holidays!! Parking was pretty much right outside the door. The area of reston is a suburb of washinton dc so there is tons of traffic...tons!!! I think that was the worst part. Otherwise, there are tons of shops, restaurants and things to do in the area. It was a great assignment and would go back if i could! 03/27/2019
  • Housing was approximately 5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Candlewood suite/Staybridge suites . Housing was located in city of Herndon. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. I stayed at a candlewood suites for a couple months but with all the construction workers and their smoking, it got to be too much with my asthma. They were starting renovations and were gonna switch my rooms, so i saw the opportunity to leave. I checked in to a staybridge suites around the corner which was the best. Ask to talk to jessica, she will give you a good rate for the room if she knows you are traveling. They spoiled me there. Wish i was there for the entire stay. Rooms are nice. Breakfast was good and they had doggy bags if u couldn't stay for breakfast.
