  • I worked in the CTSICU department(s) in the hospital. Very travel friendly unit. 22 beds mixed CT-SICU. Well-staffed with guaranteed shifts, mandatory unpaid 1hr break, with extra 15mins breakfast break for day shift, self-schedule, manager and scheduler were easy to talk to regarding time off requests and extension. The NM used to be a traveler herself so she understood travel nursing. The only downside is, if you are looking for challenging cases and expanding your skills, you won't get it here. It's a Level 1 Trauma but they don't get much crash and burn cases. They tend to keep stable patients in the ICU longer than they should because surgeons don't trust stepdown and floors.Plenty of travelers extending and renewing, including me, some are close or past one year. Around 1 hour train ride to NYC. This hospital is in Long Island, NY itself so there are nice beaches and coves to check out while you're there. Garden City, a quaint well-off city, is also next town over. 12/19/2019
  • Housing was approximately 12 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was n/a. Housing was located in city of Queens. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. I stayed at Airbnbs in Melville and Valley Stream. Housing can be expensive, avoid Hempstead neighborhood.
