  • I worked in the acute care department(s) in the hospital. I cannot stress how negative this experience was. In my entire history of being an employee anywhere, this was by far the most toxic workplace I've ever experienced. My initial experience was positive, and I thought I was going to love this hospital. However, Houlton is a small town in a larger county of small towns and, if you are not from "The County," it doesn't take much for you to be "out," and this is what happened to me. I went from a positive experience with my coworkers to an incredibly negative one literally overnight, and to this day I don't know what happened. I had coworkers who gave me the silent treatment, a supervisor literally screaming at me at the nurse's station, and was continually given patients outside the scope of my practice, whom I stated I did not have experience taking care of. And yet I was given these patients in multiples while being told I was basically a crappy nurse for not knowing how to take care of them. Unfortunately, I didn't have much backup from my agency. I have never felt as afraid for my license as I did working for this hospital, and while I am normally a confident nurse I have never felt so badly about my practice as I did here. I cannot emphasize enough for a traveler to steer clear of this hospital. The pay package was great, but not worth it in the slightest. 02/08/2020
  • Housing was approximately 1 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was apartment. Housing was located in city of Houlton. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. Housing was affordable, comfortable, and pet-friendly. I would recommend my landlord to anyone as he was readily available and incredibly friendly and accommodating. Gave me recommendations for various services around town when my car needed work, and was very helpful overall.
