  • I worked in the ccu_icu department(s) in the hospital. Was told mutliple things in the interview that I found to be very untrue. They are bringing in travelors into their icu and floating them to staff their medsurg units. They only have two full time nurses on one of their med surg floor, and the other isnt much better. The staffing on the med surg floors is pretty rough-no clerk, no cna's. I have had five to six patients on my team doing primary care, clerking, mixing my own iv drips (no pharmacy at night), no free charge nurses. Kirksville is a very small town (17k) and really has nothing to do if you are not family orientated there. This assignment is tolerable, just not ideal in the least bit. Also the few doctors they have working for them have way to much power..they are all on a power kick. Everything is being ran by a hospitalist, no specialities...like pulmonology, cardiology, infectious disease etc. So in my opinion the care there is poor, nothing is specialized. If I was haivng cardiac arrythmias I would want a cardiologist to be seeing me not a hospitalist with alot of interns :) 09/22/2008
  • Housing was approximately 3 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was holiday inn express extended stay. Housing was located in city of kirksville. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 2. It is a college town, so you might have problems getting someone to accept you for 13 weeks, where there is a abundance of students wanting to rent full time. That is why I am in an extended stay.
