  • I worked in the Medical department(s) in the hospital. They like to dump all of the work on travelers, and expect you to be fine with it, because 'you're a traveler, you're used to getting the worst of it.' You will get pretty much every admit while the charge nurse rides you and ignores the permanent staff. I hope you don't like weekends off... ever, as it will be 3 months soon without one off. Overall, I would advise any traveler to avoid this place like the plague. 07/20/2019
  • Housing was approximately .3 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Private Housing. Housing was located in city of Casper. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. There is lots of availability for non-furnished or partially-furnished housing. Fully furnished is more difficult. It is, however, easy to pick up furnishings for basically nothing at some of the great thrift and charity stores in Casper. The quality of these furnishings is surprisingly good.
  • I worked in the Neuro department(s) in the hospital. Nurse to patient ratio most of the time is 1:5 with 2 discharges and 2 admissions a day. 2/3 of the time there is only 1 NA for the unit on days. The charge nurse has at least 2 patients and usually isn't available to use as a resource when I have questions or need an extra hand. The staff on my floor is 30% travel nurses and 40% new grads. The doctors have been very nice to work with and the staff has been friendly. Equipment has been hard to track down… had to run to ICU 3 floors down to borrow their bladder scanner. Casper, WY is very windy and cold in the winter. Outside of work, there are some great local bands. Art of Coffee has music every Tuesday and Thursday. The Keg & Cork has great food and on Wednesdays, John Kurlin is a great solo artist. Before the winter set in I enjoyed mountain biking on Casper Mountain near the Nordic Center and hiking near a waterfall on the Bridal Trail. 12/09/2014
  • Housing was approximately 1 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was found my own housing through the local newspaper. Housing was located in city of Casper. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3. Found an ad in the local newspaper for a roommate wanted 4 blocks from the hospital. Working out great!
  • I worked in the Medical department(s) in the hospital. The Bridle trail is a great 4-5 mile mountain hiking/running trail just 5 minutes outside of town. There's a paved 7 mile river path in town with frisbee golf course, small skiing area 10 minutes from town, climbing gym in town and a surprising amount of great bars for a small town. I love this place! 11/14/2013
  • Housing was approximately 2 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Casper Village Apartment. Housing was located in city of Casper. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3. My fellow travelers who brought dogs were both provided with great private houses. I'd suggest bringing a pet to get ideal housing!
