  • I worked in the Care Management department(s) in the hospital. Case managers have 2-3 X the recommended case load. Every day a new assignment with new patients, even if I was on the same unit. Nowhere to safely put my purse or phone. Had to carry my coat, lunch, all my resource material with me everywhere so walked around with a shopping bag. Staff told me they were "too busy" to orient me. Unit 45 case manager was just nasty to me & she was supposed to "orient" me. Told me they were so short staffed they would not fire her no matter how mean she was to me. Case managers work thru their lunch at their desks. Do not take any other breaks. No paid overtime but I put in almost an hour of unpaid overtime daily just to get the basics done on my patients. Dept Manager does not have a clue what is going on and does not want to know & is not there at least half the time. Her secretary was verbally abusive to me. Threw a pager at me & told me to "figure it out" when I asked for some instruction on how it worked. Many of the staff very short with me because I did not know the history of my patients (but how could I when I have different patients each day?) Horrible experience!!! 09/15/2017
  • Housing was approximately 4 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Northwood Apts. Housing was located in city of Portland. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 1. Apt was only 440 square feet. Med Staff Solutions ordered WAY too much furniture that would never fit in it. After a week of no bed, no table to eat or work off of I finally just bought them myself. No parking near the building. Sometimes had to park 3-5 blocks away. Apt windows only open 3 inches - they say it is a safety measure. Hard to get out the hot daytime air & let in the cooler night air.
  • I worked in the CVICU department(s) in the hospital. I had a wonderful experience. They have a large float pool, so they don't use travelers often, mostly for summer vacations. I have no real cardiac specific experience, but they also do a lot of overflow, so I got a lot of Med-Surg ICU patients. I often only had one patient. The staff were very supportive, helpful and fun to work with. I did know a traveler on days who did not like it at all. As you might imagine, day shift in a CVICU attracts a certain type of person. 09/27/2014
  • Housing was approximately N/A mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was N/A. Housing was located in city of Portland. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. I went through Accountable Healthcare, but Cross Country also had travelers there as well. I found my own housing and the company took it out of my stipend.
